This is a unique opportunity for students, private practices, and industry sponsors to network and learn from one another. The symposium consists of keynote speakers tackling important topics the equine industry faces, a tradeshow like atmosphere where students network with attending private practices for externship, internship, and associate position opportunities, and the opportunity for attendees to mingle with industry representatives and begin cultivating those relationships and learning their product portfolios. SAVE THE DATE – OCTOBER 5, 2024 / HERITAGE PLACE OKLAHOMA CITY, OK / ALL DAY EVENT "Pathways to Success" Career Symposium o Externship, Internship, and Career Networking Site o The Outreach Page can be found on V.E.T.'s website. This allows veterinary practices to post available externships, internships, and associate positions. o In 2024, V.E.T. will add a licensed veterinary technician component to this site as well. They will work with veterinary technology programs to help promote this component and recruit qualified technicians looking for a lifelong career in equine veterinary medicine. Outreach Web Page o In 2024 V.E.T. will begin offering scholarships for veterinary students. o They are working on scholarships to assist students with travel/living expenses during externships. Additionally, they are working on more targeted scholarships for students, who upon graduation will enter specific areas of equine medicine, in the hopes to relieve some of the stress associated with student debt. Tackling Social Media Web Page Despite the organization being in its infancy, V.E.T. is humbled not only by its success, but by the realization communicated to them by the equine community for its necessity. V.E.T. has offered its services at zero cost to veterinary students and veterinarians since day one. The organization remains financially fueled by private donations and sponsorships from within the industry. The organization's goal is to remain available as a free resource and service to the equine community with continued support, donations, and sponsorships.
