Page | 1 (Updated August 14, 2024) Hands-On Learning | Proximate Cause: Equipment Tracking and Pull Types Question: What is the new Equipment Tracking and Safety Checks module about and why would I want this? Answer: If you are looking to track and confirm that the material handling equipment in your warehouse is in good working order, this module might be of interest. A big concern for workplace safety in the warehouse is the use of heavy machinery. This module helps to minimize risk and improve safety for those employees operating material handling equipment. This session, if time allows, will demonstrate how every piece of equipment gets its own classification and how users are guided through user-defined prompts to perform pre-shift safety checks from a handheld device. You'll see how specific equipment is matched to a defined pull type (used for pick filtering and carton max cube and weight assignment) and a safety and operation checklist profile. When the module is enabled, a user will have the option of signing on to a specific equipment ID on the handheld device. Upon login, the system will prompt for an equipment ID, which the user can either key or can an associated barcode label. Note that the equipment ID will not be a requirement at login but must be valid, if selected. If a safety check has not been performed on the equipment ID for that day, the user is immediately prompted to perform a safety check. Each prompt in the Safety and Operations Checklist profile for the equipment type is serially displayed. Each prompt will ask for a good working order "OK" or defect "Defective". The option to cancel and essentially abort the login is available, as well. After all the Safety Checks are completed, optional notes may be entered in, which will be recorded against that days' Safety Checklist for the equipment ID.
