KATE CAIN WINSTON & STRAWN LLP ILTA’s 2010 Project Management Survey: A Wild Ride for Legal Technology how we made it through all of those ups, downs, twists and turns. Together, we’ve weathered some interesting times: W 2 • Watching Wall Street and the real estate market implode before our eyes • Witnessing history unfold through the U.S. presidential election • Saying goodbye to entertainment icons Paul Newman and Michael Jackson • Holding our breath as a hero named Sully landed a jetliner in the middle of the Hudson River and sighing with relief when everyone walked away unharmed • Marveling at the spectacle of sports and Project Management Survey www.iltanet.org hat a roller coaster ride the last two years have been! Looking back to 2008, when our last Project Management Survey was published, it is hard to imagine international goodwill that was the Beijing Olympics • Being accosted at every turn by antibacterial everything thanks to the swine flu Likewise, the world of technology was not without its monumental events. The gadget we all became addicted to was Apple’s iPhone, which was followed by the commercial launch of Google’s Android operating system and a whole new class of smartphones. Facebook redefined how we connect with each other, as more than 500 million people found friends in the virtual universe. Twitter forever changed “tweeting” from a singsong whistle to furious typing in 140 characters or less. Some would argue that Microsoft stumbled with Vista and then started to recover with Windows 7 — which was my idea, by the way. In our corner of the universe, the legal technology community watched some firms vanish, others merge into entirely new organizations and the rest batten down the hatches to ride out the storm. We have had to wish too many colleagues farewell
