Hot House: Zarak and German networked to find fresh local produce.
"An event this large with so many international guests
is definitely rock-star thinking," says Margera's executive
manager, Chris G. "As a result, I had to call in the 'rock stars'
of the kitchen and catering. My first and only call was to
Visnja and Donna of Hostess Catering."
When someone like Bam Margera—a pro skateboarder,
MTV star, and front man of a band with an obscenely unprintable name—gets married, he doesn't have a church ceremony and country club reception in his quiet hometown.
Instead Margera and Nikki Boyd got married onstage at the
Reykjavík Art Museum in Iceland, during the first annual
Random Hero Festival. The people tasked with pulling off
the wedding's food and décor, and even the bar sales for the
rock festival, were the ladies from Hostess Catering.
Chris G. had first tasted Woburn-based Hostess
Catering's food at an event in Boston years ago, and had
hired them himself several times since. That's how Zarak
and German found themselves throwing a combination
charity concert and wedding in Iceland—with only a few
weeks' notice.
"When we got the call, we were just beside ourselves,"
German says. "We had a two-week lead time to plan the
menu and to source all of our food for this event."
That's why they "hit the ground running," German says.
