His largest solo project to date was restoring a 19-foot Chris Craft Barrel Back—a sleek 1942 racing boat that had been in storage for 10 years before Park gave it a new keel. He also restored a Lawley Tender, a rower that had been caked with paint. He stripped the vessel and added new frames and seam work; it is, once again, ready for action. Today, Park is restoring a Herreshoff from the 1880s. Along with restoration, he also takes on new designs. His first new-build project is a hybrid of two Grant guide boat designs. "She is being built with laminated frames, spruce crook stems, and Grant lapped planks," Park says. "It is a real labor of love—you can work on one project for a year."
