6 MOUNT SINAI HOSPITAL FOUNDATION REPORT TO OUR COMMUNITY 2013 /14 7 MOUNT SINAI HOSPITAL FOUNDATION REPORT TO OUR COMMUNITY 2013 /14 D O N O S R Mount Sinai Hospital is made up of an incredible community of caregivers whose dedication to caring for our patients runs deep. THESE ARE JUST SOME OF THEIR INSPIRING STORIES. Traditionally, when people think of a caregiver they think of someone who directly cares for someone with an illness, such as a physician or nurse. However, there are many silent heroes who contribute to the exemplary care that our patients receive. Heroes such as our generous donors and volunteers, who ensure that we have the talent, resources and funding to provide the best care possible. As part of Mount Sinai's lobby redevelopment, The Jay & Barbara Hennick Family Wellness Centre will provide an area of healing and respite within the Hospital where patients, families, visitors and staff can visit and experience an oasis of tranquility. Envisioned as an intersection between art and wellness, the Hennick Wellness Centre will feature artworks of the late Sorel Etrog, one of Canada's pre-eminent artists. "Barbara and I are thrilled to carry on the tradition of a vital community of donors that came before us and who have made Mount Sinai Hospital the centre of excellence it is today. I invite others to join us, as we work together to reimagine the future of health care at Mount Sinai Hospital in the years to come." – Jay Hennick, – Mount Sinai Hospital – Board Chair Hennick Family Jay & Barbara Hennick Photo courtesy: Horst Herget • Brent and Lynn Belzberg,* whose gift of $1.8 million will create e Brent and Lynn Belzberg Donor Recognition Centre to honour those who support Mount Sinai. • Phillip and Peggy DeZwirek, whose gift of $5 million will shape e Phillip and Peggy DeZwirek Family Main Street to serve and meet the needs of patients, families, visitors and staff. • Bob Rubinoff, † whose gift of $3 million will create e Robert Rubinoff Hall of Chairmen to honour those who have served the Hospital over the years. • RioCan, whose investment of $5 million will create e RioCan Food Hall, a new food court that will enhance the overall quality and comfort of the health-care experience at Mount Sinai. • Kenneth Field and Vivian Berman, whose early investment of $1 million provided the critical resources needed to initiate the lobby redevelopment project. • Mark and Natty Nashman, whose $1 million gift will name e Mark and Natty Nashman Family Lobby, which will welcome families into the Hospital's University Avenue entrance. *Brent Belzberg is the Mount Sinai Hospital Foundation Management Board Chair and Governing Council Chair. †Bob Rubinoff is the Mount Sinai Hospital Foundation Management Board Vice-Chair and Governing Council Vice-Chair.
