help lead the Irish to the BCS title game in 2012 — and the RedHawks' roster has a distinct Irish flavor to it. Fifth-year senior quarterback Andrew Hendrix began his collegiate career as a highly touted four-star recruit with the Irish, but he played in just eight career games in South Bend. Tight end Alex Welch — another four-star Irish signee — and defensive back Lo Wood also went from Notre Dame to Oxford for their final years of eligibility. Three assistant coaches also came to Miami after working with the Irish, and another, running backs coach Autry Den- son, finished his career as Notre Dame's all-time leading rusher. All, including the head man, will have familiarity with Mich- igan's schemes and personnel after play- ing annually against Brady Hoke since he took the job in Ann Arbor. Miami (Ohio) Notes: Martin is 0-2 at Miami, but he went an impressive 74-9 in his time as a head coach at Division II Grand Valley State … The RedHawks were outgained by an average of 258.4 yards and outscored by an average of 25.9 points per game last year; they have actually outgained opponents by a clip of 62.5 yards per contest this year, despite still being outscored by an av- erage of 11.0 points per game … Se- nior wideout Dawan Scott recorded 57 catches for 851 yards and seven touch- downs in 2012, and then finished as the team's leading receiver last year (28 catches for 425 yards and a score). He has six catches for 53 yards and a score this season … Scott is the only player on the squad with more than four career touchdowns … Miami has dropped 11 straight road tilts and 18 of its last 20 … Since winning the MAC in 2010, the RedHawks have gone 8-30.
