Seniors Cole Farrand and L.A. Goree
lead the linebackers from the inside. Far-
rand paces all Big Ten players with an av-
erage of 12.5 tackles per league contest,
and in addition he has seven pass break-
ups, which ties for the second-most on the
squad. Goree is the team's career tackling
leader (260), while sophomore reserve
Yannick Ngakoue is another to watch. The
outside linebacker has notched just 32
tackles, but 12.5 were behind the line of
scrimmage to lead the squad.
The backline is also strong and ranks
33rd nationally in passing efficiency de-
fense. Junior safety Sean Davis is en route
to his second-straight campaign with at
least 100 tackles — so far he has a team-
best 94, and he also paces the unit with
eight pass breakups — while sophomore
cornerback Will Likely has defended 12
passes, including five picks.
On the other side of the ball, the Terps
must find a way to establish a running
game. Their ground production is current-
ly ranked 111th nationally with an aver-
age of 113.9 yards per game, and it will be
even more important if star junior wide re-
ceiver Stefon Diggs is unable to play due
to a lacerated kidney.
Diggs, who has 654 receiving yards and
five touchdowns, is a special weapon that
Greene noted, "they really can't afford to
lose."
Sixth-year senior quarterback C.J.
Brown is a mobile threat who leads the
team in rushing, but that shows just how
