Also running the heads at 50 percent in our Site Pro computer is vital. With these backup heads along the rough line, I need better coverage but I also need the head to operate like a full rough head or a head in the middle of a fairway. Watch Your Dollars Many golf courses pay for water and that costs money. I'm always astounded after talking with other superintendents and learning what percentage of their budget is spent on water. I feel if you're going to pay for water your irrigation system bet- ter be as efficient as possible. It's important to look at how good the efficiency of your irrigation sys- tem is and improving the effective- ness of your irrigation system. This will not only save the club money but supply better playing conditions for your members and golfers that utilize your club during the high- stress periods of summer when irri- gation systems are in high demand. www.jmsuperintendent.com.
