PREPARATIONS SET FOR 48TH BUD
LIGHT SCORE BAJA 1000
The SCORE Baja 1000
is approaching its 50th
anniversary, but before that
celebration can begin, the 48th
Bud Light SCORE Baja 1000 still
has to go into the record books.
This year's race will be no less
exciting with a newly routed
race course and an international
level of competition that will
take place on November 18-
21 in Ensenada, Mexico.
This year, the SCORE Baja
1000 course will be a single
loop race that starts and finishes
in front of the historic Riviera
del Pacifico Cultural Center in
Ensenada. Racers will travel in
a counter-clockwise direction
over a 840-mile trek that
extends to both sides of the
peninsula, and includes a 35
mile stretch to Ojos Negros
and heads south through
Santo Tomas and along the
Pacific Ocean. The course
features seven checkpoints
and parallels Highway 1 for
nearly half of the race, looping
south back to the Pacific and
then crossing over to the
other side of the peninsula
below Puertocitos. The course
then heads back North along
the Sea of Cortez, past San
Felipe paralleling Highway 5
and up to the junction with
Highway 3. Running parallel
to Highway 3, racers will
travel west, then northwest
back into Ojos Negros before
they reach the finish line in
Ensenada. Pre-running is
expected to open near the
end of October, allowing
competitors nearly three
weeks of practice time on the
course. For more information
