Wagner has played in all nine games this season and averaged 4.3 points and 1.7 rebounds in 10.8 minutes per game. He showed signs of star potential while scoring 19 points in a 102-47 win over Charlotte. "He's still in the process of understanding everything that's involved with playing at this level," Shepard said. "He hasn't figured it out yet. For young guys like that, it's a process. Where he is, it's not that unusual for a freshman big man to be swimming once in a while in his responsibilities, and he'll figure it out. "Take any of the guys in the Big Ten who are now upperclassmen — Matt Costello at Michigan State, A.J. Hammons at Purdue — those big guys had a hard time figuring out support on the block, for example, and that's been an issue with Wagner." Wilson, meanwhile, is still working on figuring out his role. He's averaging 3.6 points and 0.7 rebounds in 8.7 minutes per game, though he has made four of nine triples (44.4 percent). "A lot of scouts will say he's got a great shot and everything, and they love that about him," Shepard said. "Now he needs to focus on rebounding. At 6-10 and having spent all last year in the weight room, now we should be expecting him to crash the boards." — Chris Balas Freshman forward Moritz Wagner showed his immense potential while scoring 19 points in just 18 minutes during U-M's 102-47 win over Charlotte Nov. 26.
