MICHIGAN RECRUITING more in June, where he showed a big arm. However, with his smaller phy- sique, he was expected to find a home at H-Back or linebacker in the long term at Michigan. With the dream of being a college quarterback still alive, he opted to explore his other options. Since decommitting from the Wol- verines, Viramontes has picked up of- fers from Cal and Nebraska, and could also add one from UCLA. It's not out of the question that the three-star could be reunited with Michigan, but the ex- pectation is that he continues his foot- ball career elsewhere. Following Viramontes by just a couple days, Farmington (Mich.) High three-star linebacker David Reese de- committed Dec. 9. While Michigan in- formed him that they would like him to enroll in the summer, other schools — including Florida, Nebraska, Texas and TCU — gave him the opportunity for January enrollment. "After careful consideration and soul searching with my family, I have decided to decommit in order to pur- sue my chance for early enrollment," he said. "I wish U-M the best of luck in the future, and I will never forget my experiences in the Big House." Reese totaled 138 tackles for a 5-5 team as a senior while contributing 618 offensive yards and seven touch- downs offensively. The No. 23 inside linebacker nationally and No. 12 senior in the state of Michigan will select a different program for January enroll- ment. Early enrollment spots are limited by the total number of players on the ros- ter. The NCAA caps that number at 85 players, and while Michigan operated at slightly below that number in 2015 (and will likely see a few more players graduate at the mid-term this year), the expectation is that there won't be room below the 85 mark in January for Reese to join. — Tim Sullivan GATORADE PLAYERS OF THE YEAR Michigan commits Avon (Ind.) High senior quarterback Brandon Pe- ters and Hartland (Wis.) Arrowhead senior offensive guard Ben Bredeson have both won Gatorade Player of the Year awards for their respective states. The winners were selected based on athletic production and impact in the 2015 season. Each winner also dem- onstrated high academic achievement and exemplary personal character, in- cluding volunteerism, sportsmanship and community leadership. Bredeson is a four-star prospect and was a key piece on an offense that racked up 5,298 total yards and av- eraged 31.6 points per game this fall. The Warhawks finished 12-1 and made it all the way to the Division I state championship game, where they ulti- mately fell to Kimberly. The 6-4, 280-pounder is a two-time first-team all-state selection, and Ri- vals.com rates him as the top player in Wisconsin, the No. 4 offensive guard and No. 60 overall player nationally. Bredeson has maintained a 3.28 GPA and is a member of his school's leader- ship council. The burly offensive line- man is also an accomplished pianist and a vocalist in his school's concert
