15 FINANCIAL REPORT 2015 ARCHDIOCESE OF DENVER During fiscal 2015 and 2014, the mortuary provided funeral services to 676 and 598 families, respectively. Included in these numbers are services to the county Social Services offices for 104 cases in 2015 and 81 cases in 2014. Accordingly, the mortuary contributed more than $380,000 in care services to the poor and their families in 2015. In addition, pre-need mortuary service contracts for future funeral services, totaling 318 and 434, were contracted for in 2015 and 2014 respectively. Income from operations during fiscal 2015 of $109,006 was generally consistent with the results in 2014. However, when combined with a decrease in investment income of more than $2.1 million in 2015 from 2014, the mortuary realized a smaller increase in net assets as compared to 2014. Operations were favorably impacted by an increase in mortuary sales, primarily from sales of pre-need service contracts. In addition, the mortuary's board continued its long-standing tradition of funding other ministry programs in the archdiocese when it approved respective grants of $93,000 and $87,000 to St. John Vianney and Redemptoris Mater seminaries in fiscal 2015 as compared to respective grants of $113,000 and $87,000 in fiscal 2014. Famous historic figure Julia Greeley, "Angel of Charity," is buried at Mount Olivet Cemetery. Poor herself, Julia used her red wagon to deliver, oen secretly, food, clothing, and fuel to the poor. Greeley died on June 7, 1918.
