Families would try to go barefoot whenever possible to reduce the wear and tear on their shoes. Shoes and boots would be passed down through families until they completely wore out, so it was a great occasion when a child was old enough for a brand new pair of boots. Taking a shower uses much less water than filling up a bathtub. A shower only uses 10-25 gal- lons while a bathtub takes up to 70 gallons, WOW. If you do take a bath, be sure to plug the drain right away and adjust the temperature as you fill the tub. Until next week, WATSON says, remember to think water conservation.
