DESERT CHALLENGE TURNS 20! T he debut of the new Rosarito Beach 20th SCORE Desert Challenge is almost here and we are excited to bring all the teams and fans to this great new city and venue. This "Desert Challenge" format will be the 20th running of this unique to SCORE and will be the first time ever SCORE has organized this type of race in Baja, MX. The Desert Challenge format began its long history with the SCORE Laughlin, NV Desert Challenge race in 1995, with non-other than Ivan "Ironman" Stewart taking the win! Rosarito Beach will offer race participants and fans not only a new course challenge but an entire new city to discover that includes the well-known beaches, surfing and great lobster and other food specialties known in the area. Additional sites to see are the Baja Studios where such films as "Master and Commander" and "Titanic" were filmed and the artificial reef underwater park. Make sure you review the hotels listed and make your arrangements ASAP due to the already heavy tourist season time period. SCORE will once again be offering the exclusive Stand 21 Safety Foundation Safety Workshop on Saturday, July 30 at the SCORE Tech Center in El Cajon. Make sure you see the Safety Workshop promotion page in this issue to register ASAP for this great opportunity to learn from and interact with some of the leading experts in this field. this Issue Perhaps one of the greatest personalities to impact off-road motorsports in the formative years was Bill Stroppe. Read all about his involvement with Ford Racing and his contribution to the famous Ford Bronco race vehicles and the special production "Stroppe Baja Bronco" to the Rod Hall Dodge Class 4 winner.
