Bemidji, Minnesota
Sanford Center
Every seat is a good one at the 4,300-seat Sanford Center in Bemidji. The entire
arena, which has the shore of Lake Bemidji as its backyard, is one small bowl,
mostly filled in on three sides like a horseshoe.
Bemidji can be a great winter weekend trip for families that enjoy cross-
country skiing with trails in a number of nearby state parks. In town you can
represent another Minnesota winter sport, curling, all while grabbing dinner.
Dave's Pizza is owned by Olympic bronze medalist curler Pete Fenson.
And don't forget to pay a visit to Paul Bunyan and Babe the Blue Ox.

Mankato, Minnesota
Verizon Wireless Center
A quick jaunt down U.S. Highway 169 from the Twin
Cities, Mankato's Verizon Wireless Center can be made
into either a day trip or a full weekend since the building
is connected to a Hilton Garden Inn.
Minnesota State plays off campus in downtown
Mankato, allowing for a variety of restaurants within
walking distance. Recent renovations to the arena include
a video board, new purple seats and rink configuration
(going from Olympic size to NHL size).
