This year, Notre Dame lost four early verbal commitments — line- backer/athlete David Perkins (Ohio State), offensive tackle Taylor Decker (Ohio State), cornerback Ronald Darby (Florida State) and wide receiver De- ontay Greenberry (Houston) — but also picked up two: defensive lineman Jarron Jones (Penn State) and quarter- back Gunner Kiel (first Indiana, and then LSU). Not all decommits are equal, and sometimes it is the school that hastens the process rather than the prospect leaving the school at the altar.
