BASKETBALL PREVIEW 2017-18 ■ Braxton Beverly 10 • PG Fr. • Hazard, Ky. • 6-0 • 180 Analysis: Beverly will have to redshirt this season after the NCAA ruled he was a transfer for taking classes at Ohio State in summer school. NC State had appealed the NCAA's decision to treat Beverly as a transfer since OSU had a midsummer coaching change, but it was denied. Beverly is a sharpshooting, pass-first point guard who would have provided depth in the backcourt. Career Highlights: Rated by Rivals.com as a three-star prospect … Played for NC State assistant coach A.W. Hamilton the past two seasons at Hargrave Mili- tary Academy in Chatham, Va., and led the prep powerhouse to a 90-3 overall record … Made 14 of 20 threes in a win over Genesis Academy last season en route to a school-record 70 points … Averaged 20.1 points, 6.4 assists and 2.2 steals as a junior to help Hargrave win the 2016 National Prep Championship … Previously attended Perry County High in Hazard, Ky., and started playing varsity in the seventh grade … Scored 2,558 career points at Perry County, 17 shy of the school record.
