14 The largest and most popular charitable event at Uihlein Soccer Park is an annual indoor soccer tournament called the America SCORES Milwaukee SCORES Cup. During this fundraiser, adults 21 and over from businesses, families, and other groups compete on the soccer park's three indoor turf fields to support Milwaukee's underserved children. "One hundred percent of the proceeds raised from the SCORES Cup provides more than 1,000 Milwaukee area youth with free programming that incorporates soccer instruction, promotes academic achievement, and teaches the importance of community service through area service projects," said Kate Carpenter, executive director of America SCORES Milwaukee. A t this time of year, and in the holiday tradition, requests for charitable giving and donations are at their peak. In Milwaukee, home to many worthy organizations requesting use of Uihlein Soccer Park and its resources, we've extended our charitable spirit year- round through our "Kickers & Our Community" initiative. The initiative is ingrained at every level of the park, the Milwaukee Kickers Soccer Club (MKSC), and the club's nonprofit community outreach program, America SCORES Milwaukee. "The Milwaukee Kickers Soccer Club is a 501(c3) nonprofit organization built on a foundation of not only giving youth the opportunity to play soccer, but a foundation to support the greater Milwaukee area," says Alvaro Garcia-Velez, executive director of MKSC. "We know how fortunate we are to call Uihlein Soccer Park home, and engage with and extend our resources to our community on an ongoing basis to share that privilege with others in need."
