During the morning session the following topics will be covered by the specialists through highly-illustrated lectures and there will be plenty of time available to ask questions and for debates: • Functional Anatomy and Physiology of the Foot • Biomechanics of the Equine Foot—How It Is Altered by Trimming and Wear • Does the Normal Foot Exist?—Conformation, Balance, Footfall, and Gait • Examination of the Foot—A Veterinarian's and a Farrier's Approach • Anatomy and "Physiology" of a Horse Shoe • Principles of Trimming and Shoeing • Effect of Shoes on "Normal" Foot Function • e Use of Composites • Foot and Pastern Injuries (Including P3 Fractures) • Tackling Specific Problems During the aernoon sessions, seven hours of practical sessions will give attendees plenty of opportunity to put theory into practice on live horses and limb specimens in small groups (two vets per specimen) and to discuss all aspects of foot trimming, shoeing, and farriery with the specialists. Each attendee will be rotating through the following practical stations: • Foot Examination on Live Horses • Foot Preparation Techniques • Shoeing Techniques • Applying Wooden Shoes • Quarter Crack Repair • Application of a Foot Cast e course fee includes hot lunches, coffee/tea breaks, the wine and cheese reception, extensive electronic course notes, and a certificate of attendance. Attendees can choose to only attend the lectures (= Lectures Only) on this course or can register for the entire course (= Lectures & Practical Sessions).
