History Made at 50th BFGoodrich Tires SCORE Baja 500! This edition of the SCORE Journal continues the 50th BFGoodrich Tires SCORE Baja 500 anniversary race celebration and recognition of all of those involved with making this event another successful page in the history books. This issue is a great tribute to all the 321 Teams that participated in the historic 50th BFGoodrich Tires SCORE Baja 500! SCORE is proud of the fact that all the work that has been devoted to this historical event over the past few years came together to make such an epic race event a success. Here are some of the major items that help define the memorable 50th BFGoodrich Tires SCORE Baja 500. 2018 COUNT • 321 total vehicles started the epic 2018 journey with racers from 32 U.S. States, the District of Columbia, two U.S. Territories and 14 countries officially signed up to compete. • Media staffing coverage of the 50th BFGoodrich Tires SCORE Baja 1000 was also record-setting. In total, SCORE issued a record 314 total regular media, team media and commercial media credentials. • A total of 13 countries were actively covering this global event. In addition to the United States, Baja California, Mexico, Baja California Sur, Mexico and mainland Mexico, also covering the event were media from Australia, Canada, Germany, Japan, New Zealand, Italy, Russia and Spain. Landmarks • Record SCORE Baja 500 course length of 542.12 miles • Dual Grand Marshall honors with Sal Fish and Ivan Stewart representing this great occasion as recognition of their contributions in making this legendary race reach this historic occasion. • BFGoodrich Overall Win $25,000 Program Payout • Highest number of finisher of any SCORE Baja 500 at 187 / 58.26% • Rob MacCachren secures overall win and for his sixth class win and now his second overall triumph in the SCORE Baja 500, as he increased his SCORE-record total of career SCORE Trophy Truck race wins to 17. • Kristen Matlock’s Overall UTV Class Win with a Normally Aspirated / Non-Turbo vehicle win. • SCORE Journal digital Race Preview issue delivers largest May issue audience base ever with over 2 million unique reader / viewers. • Newly produced Live Streaming program format delivers 294,994 live views for race day, along with SCORE Website audience numbers for the 10 period up to and including the race week, eclipsing One Million unique viewers. • Introduction of expanded 2 day Contingency for a SCORE Baja 500 • New Viewing Area introduced above Start/Finish Line. A big thank you and job well done to the hundreds of volunteers that have always been a key to the success of any race event and especially at this year’s 50th BFGoodrich SCORE Baja 500 Anniversary! Last but not least, the UTV category continues to develop and grow within the SCORE Series and provided one of the best race battles at this year's 50th BFGoodrich Tires SCORE Baja 500 Anniversary, with great competition and Kristen Matlock’s unprecedented Overall UTV class win. Based on this class importance, we showcase a special section focusing on the many UTV aftermarket products that now provide additional performance to these already great factory offerings.
