Introduction The artificial intelligence (AI) revolution is profoundly influencing all manner of human endeavor and has the potential to shift the global balance of power. It is therefore a priority to develop and deploy AI- enabled capabilities to remain ahead of international competitors, who regard AI as pivotal to gaining greater global power and influence. This white paper describes what AI and cognitive computing (CC) are and introduces the underlying, largely commercially developed IP that enables them. Subsequent white papers outline the roadmap that enables AI to transition from the commercial data center into military applications for deployment all the way to the tactical edge. These white papers introduce the abilities needed to counter an increasing number of determined AI competitors. DR.
