Houser and her Boilermaker
teammates couldnt quite keep
pace with Louisville. The Cardinals
routinely beat Purdue down the
floor in transition and capitalized
on turnovers to get easy baskets
on the run.
Antonita Slaughter hit several big
shots, including three three-pointers, to help the Cardinals build a
15-point lead at halftime.
Louisville mens coach
Rick Pitinos support for
the Cardinal womens
program was on display
in the arena and on
ESPNews. Pitino, whose
team faces Oregon in
the Sweet 16 later in the
week, was interviewed
at halftime and shown in
the locker room after the
game congratulating the
Cardinals.
In the end, it was too much
Sara Hammond, as the
Cardinal forward had 21
points and 10 rebounds, for
the Boilers to overcome. She
also had one block, rejecting Wilson on a drive to the
basket.
