His support went beyond cheering from the stands and driving to tournaments up and down the East Coast. He was soon working as an administrator at both the local and national levels. Bodner joined the Southeastern District staff in 1999 and over the course of the next 20 years served in a myriad of roles including as associate and district registrar and as a USA Hockey National Championships tournament director. He also worked tirelessly on behalf of the organization's special hockey division. Bodner's commitment to USA Hockey—and to the game itself—was a vital part of the foundation upon which the organization and family are built. On a local level he served on the board of the Fairfax Hockey Club for 10 years, and as treasurer of the Washington Americans (later known as the Little Capitals). Hockey lost one of its most dedicated volunteers when Bodner passed away June 20 in Boca Raton, Fla., at the age of 76. It's only fitting that the Bodner family directed that memorial donations be made in the name of Mark Bodner to the USA Hockey Foundation—Disabled Hockey Fund.
