NEWS www.travelweeklyweb.com International hotels in demand at CIBTM CHINA – International outbound business travel from China will increase by 13.3 per cent this year, followed by 16.3 per cent in 2014, according to the Global Business Travel Association. Further research carried out by China Incentives, Business Travel and Meetings Exhibition (CIBTM's) organiser Reed Travel Exhibitions, confirms that 72 per cent of buyers attending the trade show are actively seeking to identify new destinations where they can host events in the next twelve months, highlighting the opportunities available for international hotels exhibiting at the show. "It is great to see from our post show research that buyers attending CIBTM are increasingly seeking new event destinations, presenting a unique prospect for international hotel exhibitors looking to increase their customer base from China. CIBTM creates a platform for international hotels to showcase their properties to buyers and visitors from China, and from the rest of the world," said Jeffrey Xu, Reed Travel Exhibitions, CIBTM project manager. "By exhibiting at CIBTM, we aim to increase awareness of our hotels and expand our client base in China which is the most important market for our organisation. CIBTM is a professional MICE trade show, compared to other events in China, and exhibiting allows us to focus on meetings which result in generating business for our organisation," said Emma Feng, liaison officer at the Okura Group, a returning exhibitor for CIBTM 2013. Besides international hotels, technology is also on the rise at CIBTM. According to the research conducted by Reed Travel Exhibitions, 77 per cent of the buyers confirmed that they regularly use social media as an events communication tool and 50 per cent stated that they would begin implementing virtual meetings technology within the next 12 months. In addition to this, 41 per cent of buyers confirmed that they regularly use audience response systems, and a further 30 per cent use mobile apps to provide information for their attendees, highlighting the increasing prominence of technology within the meetings industry in China. For exhibitors like Ding Jisheng, senior business development manager at Motorola (China) Electronics Limited, the use of technology at CIBTM provides delegates the first hand industry information and unique suppliers, which come in handy for meetings and events. CIBTM will be hosted this year from September 2 to 4, at the China National Convention Centre in Beijing. The show provides a gateway for international exhibitors to meet and expand their business into China.
