LoRaWAN ® Fragmented Data Block Transport Specification TS004-2.0.0 ©2022 LoRa Alliance ® Page 7 of 32 The authors reserve the right to change specifications without notice. 2.1 Definitions 183 184 The terms used in this document are defined in this section. 185 186 • A "data block" represents the entire binary content that is sent to the end-device(s). 187 Synonyms are "file", "data file", and "BLOB". "Data block" is the preferred term, as 188 end-devices may not have any filesystem. 189 • A "fragment" is a portion of the data block, which fits into a LoRaWAN frame. A 190 fragment is numbered and can either be "coded" or "uncoded". 191 • An "uncoded fragment" is a fragment containing actual data from the "data block" (as 192 opposed to coded fragments). 193 • A "coded fragment" is a fragment containing redundancy data to help reconstruct 194 missing "uncoded fragment". 195
