How compassionate care made a difference for the West Vancouver Police Department. Leanne Nagy is the Director of Human Resources for the West Vancouver Police Department (WVPD), a municipal department established more than 100 years ago that comprises just over 100 first responders and 20+ civilian staff. Employees of the WVPD are not only committed to making the community safe, but also to building and nurturing it through specific service delivery initiatives and programs carried out through various teams within the department. This holistic, human approach is also apparent in the way the WVPD protects and cares for its own employees. The organization has worked with TELUS Health Care Centres* for many years, offering its employees annual preventive health assessments. The assessments not only help employees monitor their health and lifestyle habits, but have also helped WVPD develop programs that address their employees' needs. It is with that mindset that the organization quickly made the decision to offer TELUS Health Virtual Care** to its employees when the COVID-19 pandemic struck.
