SEI Pride and
Somos SEI:
Creating a
safe space for
authenticity
and education.

In our 2021 #HERSTORY Magazine, we heard
from Parys Hall and Tamara Hobbs, leaders of
the SEI Black Professionals Network (SBPN),
as they reflected on the creation of SPBN and
the progress they made in their first year as an
affinity group. This year, we're excited to share
more about two new affinity groups at SEI, SEI
Pride and Somos SEI. Both of these groups have
been created by employees in the past year to
create safe spaces for both the LGBTQ+ and
Latinx communities at our company.
I had the opportunity to sit down with leaders
of both new groups to learn more about their
individual and collective experiences forming
and growing SEI Pride and Somos SEI, and why
these groups are important. The following
takeaways represent sentiments of members
of the two groups, through the voices of the
leaders with whom I spoke, including SEI
Pride leaders Olivia Maurer, Eric Griffith, and
Robb Muse; and Somos SEI leaders Gerardo
Gutierrez Villeda and Armonia Garcia Diaz.
