Heavy headers and payload, Internet Protocol requirement
LoRaWAN was not natively able to transport Electricity Metering data using
DLMS/COSEM standard
• Electricity metering payloads often exceed LoRaWAN max packet size (MTU),
particularly at low DR/high SF
• DLMS/COSEM requires a UDP or TCP connection over IPv4 or IPv6
• IP overhead is too heavy for LoRaWAN
