LoRaWAN ® LIVE CHALLENGE Asset tracking using cellular location information presents challenges such as ensuring device power supply, battery life and replacement, as well as communication costs. In addition, it was necessary to prepare a mechanism for managing network servers and identifying location information for customers who use devices. SOLUTION RYODEN and SMK solved the power supply problem by developing an edge device that uses energy harvesting, and solved the communication cost problem by using LoRaWAN ® . We are also connecting to AWS IoT Core for LoRaWAN, managed Network Server environment from our LoRaWAN gateway, to reduce the server maintenance resources. By using GNSS Solver function, we can also easier create and use asset tracking solutions. "One of the biggest challenges with IoT is that edge devices require a batteries for the sensing and communications, and manufacturing batteries or charging batter will increase CO2 emissions, while replacing battery requires a lot of manual works. By developing Zero Carbon IoT, and combining with AWS services, we could eliminate battery replacement and easily realize asset tracking in a zero carbon society. We aim to realize a more prosperous society by providing various solutions to our customers." RYODEN CORPORATION, Takashi Kitade, Senior Manager IMPACT By using AWS IoT Core, we could connect with many other AWS services, and easily build an asset tracking service by leveraging the data sent to the cloud combining with location services. Also, by using AWS IoT Core for LoRaWAN as a managed service, we could reduce the operation time and maintenance resources which resulting to further focus on developing functions that provide more value to our customers.
