® 3 END OF YEAR REPORT 2023 Approved for distribution outside of the LoRa Alliance ® ® As we turn the page on yet another year, it is clear that LoRaWAN ® continues be the global leader in low-power wide-area networking (LPWAN). Across all the events we've hosted and participated in, the theme has been consistent: LoRaWAN is everywhere. We've achieved a level of growth and maturity unmatched by other LPWAN technologies: Our device ecosystem is mature, our supplier ecosystem is mature, and our members' customers have confidence in LoRaWAN deployments. During my five years with the LoRa Alliance ® , I've often been heard to say that IoT takes a village—and the reality is, our ecosystem is the village. But the hard work our members have invested in the LoRa Alliance has allowed us to maintain our market leadership with strong adoption across numerous key verticals. Smart utilities, smart buildings, and smart cities have been a key focus this year, but deployments have also skyrocketed in smart agriculture, smart logistics, and smart industry, among others. By developing our highly collaborative ecosystem, we've successfully brought together the full IoT value chain, making the Alliance a true end-to-end solution for LPWAN deployments. There is a saying that success breeds success—and that's what we've seen this year. The fact is that customers them- selves are understanding the value of LoRaWAN based on the experiences of other deployments, and this success is truly pushing us forward. These real-world deployments––and success stories––are helping the market to understand what problems LoRaWAN can solve, how easy it is to deploy, and its strong ROI. This has dramatically accelerated the deci- sion-making process for industries using similar deployments and successes as a barometer to guide their own projects. The year 2023 was also the year that LoRaWAN took a lead- ership position in the global industrial evolution to Industry 5.0, meeting its sustainability, efficiency, and quality-of-life priorities. With its demonstrated support of people, planet, and profit, LoRaWAN goes beyond efficiency and productivity as its sole goals and reinforces the role and the contribution of industry to society with more human-centric solutions. Just a few of the trends driving Industry 5.0 that LoRaWAN addresses include growth in governmental regulations to ensure safety, increases in P&C insurance premiums driving a need to prevent losses, and a need to ensure individuals' privacy in a data-driven world. A Beecham Research report took this one step further, noting that LoRaWAN's leadership in LPWAN results from the operational benefits and ROI for LoRaWAN solutions. However, it noted that when end users collaborate with solutions providers and system integrators (SIs), their deploy- ment benefits are maximized. Solutions providers analyze use cases, provide education on available technologies, and allow project managers—whether city planners, farmers, or manufacturers—to envision the full scope of an IoT deployment. System integrators bring those ideas to life by integrating IoT sensor data into a platform that consolidates data from numerous end-user platforms. Increasing- ly, we find that their support of end users and the strength of the LoRaWAN ecosystem come together to main- tain LoRaWAN as the leading LPWAN in the marketplace. As I said, it takes a village! LoRaWAN ® ACHIEVED UNMATCHED GROWTH AND MATURITY IN 2023 Donna Moore, CEO & Chairwoman of the LoRa Alliance ®
