® 11 END OF YEAR REPORT 2022 Approved for distribution outside of the LoRa Alliance ® ® LoRaWAN ® NETWORKS SOLUTIONS THAT SCALE CRA AND TEKTELIC BUILD LoRaWAN ® NETWORK COVERAGE ACROSS CZECH REPUBLIC LoRaWAN ® IS THE RIGHT LPWAN The Internet of Things (IoT) has become more and more popular and has led to the deployment of many useful applications for a range of businesses in different vertical markets using wireless networks. Low Power Wide Area Networks (LPWANs) meet various IoT requirements such as energy efficiency, low cost, large coverage, and large-scale deployment. Of all the LPWAN technologies, LoRaWAN ® (Long Range Wide Area Network) is the one massively scaling across the globe because it offers flexible network coverage using its unlicensed band spectrum. LoRaWAN's reach is made possible by its large and active ecosystem, global deployments, and recognition as an ITU-T standard. LoRaWAN connection ensures operational stability and high performance on the radio unit of the gateway. LoRaWAN SCALES LoRaWAN networks can be scaled while minimizing the total cost of ownership and maximizing coverage and capacity. • From one IoT network platform, users can manage their individual sensors, applications, gateways, and solutions from different technologies. • Future-Proof: CRA together with TEKTELIC, based on LoRaWAN ® were able to provide an 80%-coverage in the country (of the total 95%), giving a raise for various IoT solutions. SOLUTION České Radiokomunikace a.s. (CRA), a leading Czech provider of a unique television, radio, and Internet infrastructure, built a nationwide IoT coverage network for the Czech Republic. CRA chose the TEKTELIC KONA Macro Gateway for the deployment because it is an ideal solution for operators and enterprises that require a very scalable low cost LoRaWAN gateway that minimizes network TCO while improving coverage and capacity. With the help of TEKTELIC KONA Macro Gateway and LoRaWAN network it became possible to: • ensure operational stability and high performance on the radio unit of the gateway • reduce gateways intersection of unwanted signals • achieve accuracy within polygons of tens of meters, which is sufficient primarily for use-cases such as geofencing, tracking in logistics, supply chain, security, etc. SITUATION Czech Republic has a widely developed infrastructure of energy and utility metering and needs to establish an IoT network that covers many different types of IoT sensors. The new IoT solution must permit: • End-users to manage individual devices and applications • Access and management of data from different sources including sensors, cameras, and other IoT devices • Replacement of manual utility metering with an internet- based, cloud-enabled solution • Reduction of utility consumption and waste Smart Cities Eastern Europe Gateway Provider Solution Provider Contact info: TEKTELIC Communications Inc. By providing long range, long end-device battery life, advanced propagation characteristics, and power-efficient maintenance, LoRaWAN ® networks are designed to support large-scale municipal IoT deployments with the cost structure and flexibility they need. By connecting an unlimited number of sensor-enabled devices to Senet's public LoRaWAN network, municipalities can act on new sources of data to address operational efficiencies, economic development, and resource conservation, including: • Water metering and infrastructure monitoring • Natural gas metering, leak detection, shut off, and safety applications • Monitoring rising flood water and stormwater levels • Optimizing trash collection and public parking • Automating and optimizing street lighting • Automating irrigation in public green spaces • Tracking high-value assets • Detecting municipal equipment failures • Managing in-building infrastructure • Detecting indoor and outdoor air quality LoRaWAN ® SCALES With the completion of its public LoRaWAN network across the Tampa Bay metro area, Senet's network covers over 1,600 square miles throughout Hillsborough and Pinellas Counties, including the cities of Tampa Bay and St. Petersburg: • Over 50 tower sites deployed • High density coverage and capacity to support millions of IoT device connections • Carrier-grade service and support • Broad outdoor coverage and indoor coverage for most scenarios • Extended Coverage supported by integrations with the Helium Network and Eutelsat satellite services • Flexible connectivity plans and solution deployment models SITUATION As connected city strategies are developed, municipal leaders are faced with a critically important choice when it comes to the networks they deploy. This choice impacts everything from interoperability, scalability, security, and the performance and longevity of the services they deliver. Development of a broad and densely deployed network requires planning that considers a number of customer and application requirements, along with the use of multiple vertical assets (towers, building tops, water towers, etc.) to mount gateways. Without thoughtful planning, deployment, and validation of network coverage, applications will likely underperform or fail. With the right network in place, municipalities can build and scale their connected city operations faster, and expand data driven service delivery at an equally rapid pace. LoRaWAN public networks are available across the globe, offered by 181 public network operators. Thanks to satellites and development of the LoRaWAN standard, roaming is available globally, which is critical for assets that move between networks. Massive, decentralized community networks are made available by key LoRa Alliance members and hosted by individuals that offer connectivity to the public.
