® 29 END OF YEAR REPORT 2022 Approved for distribution outside of the LoRa Alliance ® ® MARKET FOCUS SMART UTILITIES In support of utilities, the largest sector to deploy LoRaWAN ® , LoRa Alliance ® members collaborated to maintain liaisons with key organizations in the sector, formed new task forces to add new specifications into LoRaWAN standard and drive the extension of certification tool, and created materials to further market awareness. One significant addition to LoRaWAN spec- ification in 2022—that greatly impacts the electricity market in particular—is the new support by LoRaWAN of the Adaptation layer for Internet Protocol version 6 (IPv6). Also, in this year of 2022, the group supported the liaison with OMS association. The version 2.0 of technical specifications for enabling MBUS adaptation layer over LoRaWAN have been reviewed by TC and by OMS. OMS General Assembly approved to make public release of these technical specifica- tions and to start in 2023 the development of their own OMS certification program for LoRaWAN end devices. 3 new taskforces created to develop value for members and more adoption of LoRaWAN • DLMS Taskforce • Walk By/Drive By/Fly By Taskforce • Network Capacity Questions Taskforce DLMS on Multi-RAN Approaches to IoT This panel includes a discussion of a real deployment of DLMS over LoRaWAN, a discussion of the evolution of LoRaWAN in smart metering, and a summary of the impact of the DLMS over LoRaWAN standardization. ©2022 LoRa Alliance ® Page 1 of 15 The authors reserve the right to change specifications without notice.
