PHYSICAL DEMANDS DESCRIPTION JOB DATA Department: Wholesale Distribution Centre Work Hours: F/T: 5 days/week, 8-hour shifts P/T: 4-5 hour shifts Breaks: F/T: 1 x ½ hr., 2 x 15 min. P/T: 1 x 15 min PPE: Safety shoes and high visibility vest. When working in coolers and freezers, insulated coat, hat, and work gloves are required. Special Training Requirements: Pallet Truck Certification JOB PHOTO Purpose and Nature of the Job: Pick product from the warehouse racks and palletize on a skid according to customer order(s) using an electric pallet truck. Pickers may pick product from one or more of the following areas: dry goods, refrigerated coolers and/or freezers. Quantities and frequencies will vary with each customer order; approximately 120 items per person, per hour are picked. Each picked skid will typically contain a variety of different products, rarely will an entire skid of the same product be required. Essential Tasks of the Job: 1. Pre-inspect pallet truck and plug-in at end of shift; < 5%. 2. Obtain skid(s); < 5%. – Transfer skid from stack (up to waist level) and place on ground; 15-18 kg. 3. Operate single or double electric pallet truck; ~45%. – Stand on pallet truck and operate using T-bar controls. 4. Pick items from the racks (skid level up to 2 m) and organize on a skid on the pallet truck; ~45%. Pickers are assigned to one of the following areas: DRY GOODS: – Boxes, bags, cases; 1-23 kg – Typically 1-10 of the same item is picked per order REFRIGERATED GOODS: – PRODUCE • Cases of produce (fruits and vegetables); 5-23 kg • Typically 10-60 cases of each item are picked per order POSITION/JOB TITLE: Picker WSPS.CA
