DAN SANCHEZ EDITOR EVERYONE WINS IN FACTORY SXS WARS BY DAN SANCHEZ, EDITOR The SXS Factory Wars within SCORE International has escalated with new, more reliable and more powerful vehicles showing up to compete across the Baja desert, the same vehicles you can drive away with from SXS dealer's lots. The competition for SXS dominance at dealerships, and winning SCORE's Overall UTV title, has become important to many manufacturers, as well as racing fans. But the entire aspect of SXS racing had moved to the next level. Yes, there have been "factory supported" teams for a while, but when Polaris introduced its full Factory Race Team in 2023, it was the likes of which had not been seen since the days of the Ford Rough Riders. A manufacturer like Polaris, teaming up with SCi Motorsports, and keeping several factory supported teams, changed the dynamics of SXS racing, especially in SCORE, forever. This change in thinking about SXS racing brought out more reliable and faster vehicles and changed who raced them. Factory teams and factory supported race teams, sought out the most experienced SXS racers, who happened to be under 30-years of age. It's a shift from seasoned Baja racers moving from ATVs, motorcycles, and other vehicles to SCORE's UTV Classes. There's now a generation of young men and women who are primed have been racing SXS since they were kids, and they're still well under 30-years of age. Since it was important to see things from a new perspective, SCORE Journal talked with manufacturers, (Polaris, Can-Am, and Honda), along with some of their factory team racers, factory supported racers, and privateers. It's important to see the differences as they all navigate through this changing game.
