"We have a good group of people, who constantly ask for feedback. Between the races, the engineers are thinking about all the small details and come back with lots of questions. We also spend time together in the desert testing and can spend a week straight just hashing things out, several times a year." He believes that racing gets SXS enthusiasts excited. "Judging by the past 10 years there is a market there that's hungry for news about their favorite vehicle," he said. "I believe manufacturers need to win to sell their vehicles. Polaris is on top now, but before that it was Can-Am. Our competitors are pushing harder to be competitive with us. I hope to see them get better and have more cars to race. I think it's going to grow and be sustainable." There's no argument that MacCachren is a top factory racer, but whether he owes it solely to the Polaris RZR's performance, is questionable, which he hesitated to answer. "I'd have to say my success is based on the people that are around me," he said. "Obviously, if you get the right people in the right spots anything is possible. We just happen to have the right people on the bus. It came together because everyone at Polaris expects to win, we also expect to sweep the podium, and expect to sweep the top 4 as a team and the top 5 as a manufacturer. We are trying to dominate." MacCachren admits his bravado also rests on his shoulders as the driver as an integral part of the team. "All of this can be done with the right people," he added. "But ultimately I must perform too." SJ
