Jonathan Watson - Maxxis: It is important to select the correct tire model for the intended use. Having a wide range of products allow consumers to conquer any job at hand. Each tire model in its specified category, has purposeful design elements to achieve the target performance. Our new RAZR AT-S is a great example of a mild all-terrain tire fit for consumers who mostly do highway driving and want a quiet tire with exception wet performance for safety. The tread is designed and optimized for these specific performance targets. SJ: WHAT CHANGES OR ADAPTATIONS HAS THE COMPANY MADE TO KEEP UP WITH THE DEMANDS OF MODERN SXS IN BAJA RACING? Matt Hanlon - BFG: The new 35x10.50R15 Baja T/A KR2 SXS tire is one example of a product developed from taking data and racer feedback into account and building a tire around that. We reduced the tire weight and rotating mass, while increasing compliance –without sacrificing durability. The cross-sectional shape of the tread area has been rounded with the overall diameter increased slightly, and the contact patch rounded, which gives more traction, more predictable lateral behavior, and less harshness when hitting bumps. The tread compound has been improved to give more grip, particularly on hard-packed dirt, without sacrificing wear or toughness. Adrian Puente - Toyo: The Open Country SxS delivers the performance and design features of the race-winning Open Country M/T-R in a smaller package specifically designed for side-by-side vehicles. Its large diameter provides high ground clearance for tackling obstacles. Durable construction and advanced compounds developed through strenuous motorsports testing provide responsive off-road traction on rocky paths, muddy trails, and uneven surfaces. Sean Kleinshuster - Tensor: We as a company haven't had to change as we have very strong engineering and manufacturing capabilities, but we need to continuously evaluate what is expected of our products. The biggest change is how much more capable the vehicles are every year. Based on our own testing and racer feedback we can adjust tire construction materials, tread compounds, and tread designs as we identify opportunities for improvement.
