A WEEK BEFORE Bill Guerin pulled off the Quinn Hughes
blockbuster that shocked the hockey world, his assistant GM, Mat
Sells, called the Wild's GM while he was in New York scouting potential
Team USA Olympians. Sells suggested he call his former Penguins
boss, Canucks team president Jim Rutherford, and make an offer for
the superstar defenseman.

Vancouver's captain, was unhappy and wanted to play with his
brothers in New Jersey or near his parents in Detroit.
