DURING OPERATION 1. Power the saw: start the saw and allow it to come to full speed before cutting, ensure no workpiece is touching the saw. 2. Cut carefully: keep your body to the side, never directly in the path of the blade or kickback path. 3. Keep hands clear: keep hands and fingers clear of the blade at all times. Use push sticks when needed. 4. Hold firmly: with both hands hold the workpiece firmly against the table. 5. Feed steadily: push workpiece slowly through the blade against the direction of the blade rotation. Avoid trying to feed the workpiece faster than the blade can accept. – Rip cuts: feed workpiece along the rip fence and into blade. – Cross cuts: hold the workpiece against the miter gauge and extension fence and push through the blade. 6. Use push stick: use push sticks, especially for narrow work pieces or when removing stock from between the fence and blade. 7. Finish the cut fully: push the workpiece clear of the blade before attempting to remove it. TIPS Power off to adjust: make all adjustments with the machine off. Stay present: concentrate on the job, avoid distractions, never leave the saw running unattended. Handly jams safely: turn off saw and wait for a full stop, and unplug before clearing saws. Avoid kickback: avoid improper feed technique, fence misalignment, dull or damaged blades or damaged/warped stock. Ensure proper riving knife is used (when applicable). Do not overreach: avoid reaching over, behind, or around the blade while its running. POST OPERATION 1. Power down: turn off equipment and wait for all motion to stop. Never leave it running unattended. 2. Remove materials: once motion has stopped, remove workpiece and cutoff piece. 3. Clean safely: use a vacuum, stick or brush to clean dust and debris. Do not use hands or compressed air. Only use equipment if you are trained and authorised to do so.
