PullUSA: Who has been your biggest role model in clay target shooting ? Dominic Icardo: My grandfather has been a major key to my success in this sport. He has been shooting trap since he was in high school. He is very knowledgeable and has taught me everything I know about trap shooting and he also helps coach the other students on our school trap team. He has been a huge support for me along with my dad who also helps with coaching our team. PullUSA: How did you first get involved in trap? Icardo: I was first introduced to trap shooting when I was in eighth grade through a program at my local gun club, Kern County Gun Club. They were introducing trap shooting to youth; the program was put on by the NRA. When I participated that day, I fell in love with trap shooting and since then I have stuck with it because I just really enjoy the personal challenge of the sport. I enjoy competing and the personal challenge it provides to keep forcing myself to try to get better and better. PullUSA: What goals do you have for the rest of the year? Icardo: One of my biggest goals for this upcoming season is to hopefully place number one in the state again, and to also hopefully be shooting consistently in the 98-100 range. I hope to score high enough to qualify for the for the National Championship. My biggest accomplishment was finishing number one in California for the 2025 Fall Season. PullUSA: Anything else you want to add? Icardo: I have really enjoyed learning and growing in the sport of trap shooting these last few years. I enjoy the challenge so much that I hope to pursue some colleges that will allow me the opportunity to continue my trap shooting journey. Each issue of PullUSA features different high school clay target athletes exhibiting exceptional character and passion for the sport and their communities. ✪ 12 PULLUSA MAGAZINE SPRING 2026 THE LEAD ON T HE L INE Pantone 286 Blue Pantone 299 Lt Blue Pantone 1235 Gold 17 D ominic is an E agle S c ou t and s tandou t soc c er player w ho c ompe ted in E ngland las t summ er.
