LoRaWAN ® Relay Technical Recommendations TR016-1.0.0 ©2026 LoRa Alliance ® Page 5 of 20 The authors reserve the right to change specifications without notice. 2 Introduction 117 118 This technical recommendation is intended to provide guidance to end-device and 119 LoRaWAN® protocol stack developers to help ensure they produce well-behaved and 120 interoperable products when a LoRaWAN® relay is used. The document is structured in a 121 series of numbered sections. While this document does not constitute a new technical 122 specification, normative language is used in each section so that behavior compliant with the 123 recommendation is clear. Further, this will allow the implementor to claim compliance with a 124 specific section of the recommendation. 125 This document only covers the Relay as specified by the LoRaWAN® Technical 126 Specification [TS011], this means that only Relays using LoRaWAN® traffic as backhaul 127 connection to the Gateway are treated. This includes LoRaWAN® non terrestrial backhaul 128 connection. 129 130
