NINE IN A ROW Tyler Lynn Takes The Win At The SCORE Baja 400 By Mike Vieira PHOTOS BY GET SOME PHOTO The 7th SCORE Baja 400 saw the ninth victory in a row in the Pro Moto Unlimited Class and an Overall win for Tyler Lynn, and the Slam Life Racing Honda 1x Team in SCORE contests. Once again, the team’s detailed, extensive pre-running and planning paid off with a smooth, trouble-free race, as they took home the win with more than a 25-minute lead. Tyler rode the first leg of the race, taking the bike to Mile 180. He says, “We had a little bit of fog that slowed us down a bit, but other than that, I had a really good ride. I had pulled about a 7-minute gap when I handed the bike off to my teammate Sam.” Sam Pretscherer then rode on to Mile 305, and stretched the team’s lead out to twenty minutes. At that point Carter Klein took over to ride to the finish, opening their lead over the 3x team’s Ducati even further. All three SLR riders made their preparation pay off, as Tyler says, “We all put in the work the whole week prior in pre-running, and rode a really good race. There were no issues, the bike never touched the ground, and it was just a perfect day. That’s exactly how our races are planned to go, and how we foresee them as a team, so everything just went right according to plan.” With their win in the SCORE Baja 400, the team is preparing for their first position start in the BF Goodrich Tires 59th SCORE Baja 1000 in November with their usual thorough efforts. Because of the more extensive night riding, they plan to do a bit more pre-run riding in the dark, and add more lighting on the bike, but overall the team’s successful race strategy will remain the same. Slam Life Racing is hoping for another SCORE Pro Moto Unlimited Championship when the season is done, and their win in this latest race makes the planning for the Baja 1000® a bit less stressful for them as they aim to achieve their goal. Despite their dominance in SCORE, the team is not taking anything for granted when it comes to the competition. Lynn says, “We don’t take it lightly on how fast or slow others are going to go. We expect them to be right there with us the whole race, so we’re ready for anything. We’re always ready to race side by side if we need to.” Pro Moto Unlimited Field Second place in the Pro Moto Unlimited class at the SCORE Baja 400 went to the 3x team and their Ducati. Led by Ciaran Naran, who started and finished the race. Teammates Cody Simpson and Callum Norton all had trouble-free time on the bike, with no crashes and no mechanical issues. “The dust and early morning fog were a bit worse than he had been expecting, “ said Naran. “But we managed to deal with it all without losing too much time.” He was happy with the team’s performance, and is looking forward to the SCORE Baja 1000, saying, “We just have to put in a little more work, and come out swinging for the 1000.” The 15x team, led by Daemon Woolslayer, with teammates Shane Logan and Kaden Lynn, finished third in class and overall, on their Husqvarna. They also managed a clean ride with no problems or lay downs of the bike. Daemon was happy with the way the team rode, saying, “We just need to go train, work harder, and get faster. We’ll be at the SCORE Baja 1000, ready to rip!” Tyler Lynn and the 1X team’s outlook for the SCORE Baja 1000 is naturally optimistic. “We’re just going to focus on ourselves,” says Lynn. “We’re going to go out there and focus on keeping the 1X bike out front and doing our jobs. If we do our jobs correctly, then that’s the best we can do, and we’ll see how we end up.” The only thing for sure is that the Pro Moto Unlimited class in the SCORE Baja 1000 will continue to be filled with excitement for the competitors and for the spectators. • Naran on the 3x bike finished in second place, followed by Woolslayer on the 15x bike
