THE 964.66-MILE CABO TO CABO COURSE 59th BFGoodrich Tires SCORE Baja 1000 Route By Gabriel Garcia For the first time, the SCORE Baja 1000 is running a loop course completely in Baja Sur, Mexico. What has become known as the “Cabo to Cabo race” will start on Avenida Centenario in San Jose del Cabo. Racers will head into the San Jose Wash, which is the first section of dirt on the course, before exiting the wash near race mile 10 and heading toward the East Cape. The course will then reach Cabo Pulmo before racers continue toward La Ribera, Arroyo Las Cuevas, El Campamento, and through the Los Barriles area, with the Sea of Cortez providing a magnificent backdrop. From there, the course heads toward El Cardonal, featuring several high-speed sections before climbing into the rugged mountains of Sierra del Carrizalito. A historic Off-Road racing location in Baja California Sur, San Juan de los Planes, will also be part of the course. Racers will then climb toward State Highway 286 before crossing Federal Highway 1 near San Pedro, within the municipality of La Paz. From there, the course descends toward Matape before climbing into the popular area known as Los Filos, where spectacular views showcase the natural beauty of Baja California Sur. El Centenario, near La Paz, will also be part of this epic journey through the southern portion of the Baja California peninsula. Racers will reach San Juan de la Costa Highway 163 before heading toward El Saladito and climbing the majestic Cerro del Mechudo, an iconic location in Baja California Sur Off-Road racing. The field of more than 250 teams from Asia, Europe, Oceania, and the Americas will also pass through San Evaristo along the Sea of Cortez before encountering the challenging silt beds of El Bosque and continuing toward Rancho Las Golondrinas. The course then reaches the San Luis Gonzaga Mission before heading toward the Iguajil dam. Once inside the municipality of Comondu, Baja California Sur, the course reaches Tenpetu and then passes through Ejido Ley Federal de Aguas Nos. 5, 4, 3, and 2. Racers will then reach the highway connecting Ciudad Insurgentes and Loreto before arriving at Ejido Ley Federal de Aguas No. 1. From there, the course enters the spectacular Sierra de la Giganta and continues through San Javier. The municipality of Loreto adds its spectacular beauty and hospitality to the SCORE Baja 1000 course, which will pass through Arroyo Las Parras before reaching the city’s colorful Malecon. Racers will be limited to 37 mph through this area before heading north through Loreto toward Arroyo Gua. The course then reaches the highway between Loreto and Santa Rosalia before returning to dirt at Rancho El 47. From there, the course heads toward El Bombedor and Canipole before reaching Carambuche and San Jose de Comondu, where there are several wash areas and will also feature a controlled-speed zone in some areas. Immediately afterward, the course passes through Ejido Francisco Villa. The race course then reaches La Poza Grande before racers are greeted by the he Pacific Ocean near Estero Santo Domingo. From there, they will pass through the community of María Auxiliadora before reaching the highway to Puerto Adolfo Lopez Mateos. The route then heads toward Estero de la Soledad and passes very close to Las Ramaditas. Racers will pass through El Sifon, a legendary Baja California Sur location, before continuing toward Rancho El Refugio, Los Llanos de Hiray, and El Medano. From there, the course reaches the highway to Puerto Chale before continuing toward Puerto Datil, Loma Amarilla, and La Poza de Venancio, once again within the municipality of La Paz. Santa Fe will be the location of Checkpoint No. 4 at race mile 781.49. Rancho La Soledad will mark part of the final stretch of the SCORE Baja 1000 journey, followed by the Sierra de Los Naranjos and another crossing of Federal Highway 1. San Jose Wash will then appear for the second time on the course, setting up an exciting final 15-mile run to the finish line on Avenida Centenario in San Jose del Cabo, Baja California Sur.
