QUICK AND DIRTY Racers Tackle Rain, Mud, and Silt On A Very Tough Course By Dan Sanchez Photos by Get Some Photo This year’s 7th SCORE Baja 400 was both a fast and technical race, which also had intermittent heavy rainfall along the way. This all added to the number of racers who were not able to finish in this particular competition. Nonetheless, there were many who persevered and continued their pursuit to the finish line, achieving an accomplishment that only the best off-road racers can. Some got a much-needed win, while others cemented their season championships which requires them to finish the next race at the 59th BFGoodrich Tires SCORE Baja 1000. At the end of the SCORE Baja 400’s 423.16-mile course, Luke McMillin’s overall win added him to the list of “Grand Slam” winners who have won all four SCORE-International races. These include the SCORE San Felipe 250, SCORE Baja 500, SCORE Baja 400, and SCORE Baja 1000. He joins Bryce Menzies and Alan Ampudia as the only racers who have won all four races overall during their career. At the start of the SCORE Baja 400’s race weekend, the Method Race Wheel Qualifier offered an opportunity to have a front starting advantage in the Trophy Truck, 2WD Trophy Truck, TT Legends, Class 1, and TT Spec Classes depending on where they qualified. In addition, their starting positions, no matter what class were mixed at the start. At the end, only the best were able to add to their list of wins for the 2026 season before moving on to the finale at the SCORE Baja 1000. • The 1x team of Tyler Lynn, Carter Klein, and Sam Pretscherer continued their winning streak in Pro Moto Unlimited • Wayne Matlock beat the odds and tough competition to win the Pro UTV Open and UTV Overall CONTINGENCY DAY Contingency and Tech Day are always one of the highlights of every SCORE race, where both racers and teams line the Boulevard Costero in Ensenada, inching their way forward to the SCORE race ramp in front of the Rivera del Pacifico Cultural Center. It’s here that SCORE emcees, Rat Sult and Kevin Johnson, were busy interviewing racers from a variety of classes throughout the day. The SCORE Live Stream team caught all the interviews what were viewable on the SCORE website, app, YouTube, and Facebook social media pages.
