Other than her passion for food, Corinne's very enthusiastic about technology and the new toys that are constantly coming out, as well as all the tech developments that are transforming travel. "Super Bowl saw 25m tweets and reached 15m people" 13.9m people on Twitter each saw 75 tweets on average. MOST TWEETS: The voice viewers sent 1.92m tweets on May 13. MTV MUsiC ViDeo AWARDS: 18,495,883 tweets about the awards. This trend, plus the number of digital devices and platforms available today, has given us more access to and deeper engagement with content and brands. As Tv becomes increasingly social, and we become more skilled in multi-tasking – watching, eating, tweeting, Facebooking, instagramming etc - the power of this once much maligned "idiot" box is anything but idiotic now. instead it's becoming an increasingly effective marketing tool for brands and services. While on the subject of Tv, let's look at videos and their growing importance as a marketing tool. An interesting report by google, "Travel Content Takes off on YouTube" reveals two out of three U.S. consumers watch online travel videos when they're thinking about taking a trip. Travellers are also spending more time watching online videos than ever before, with views of travel- related content up 118% year-over- year. Other findings in the Google report show that travellers: spend more time than ever watching videos on YouTube use YouTube as a primary source for travel inspiration watch travel videos across devices view content across all of YouTube's travel categories ages 18 to 24 subscribe to content focused on inspiration for future travel (vlogs or video blogs) ages 25 to 64 subscribe to content to help them plan current travel (reviews, travel brands and travel networks) And this habit is not unique to the US. Here in Asia the consumption of YouTube is immense, whether it's to watch a music video, learn how to repair a fridge, or check out a travel destination. These trends have wide implications for the travel industry. Many brands, including international hotel group, Hyatt, and visit California, have embraced video as a marketing tool and found success, google says: "Across industries, advertisers are increasingly embracing online video to drive awareness and engagement, and this trend is only expected to accelerate. For travel advertisers, online video is a powerful way to convey excitement about a destination, product, service or brand." it is indeed a brave new world out there. Embrace it or be left behind in the dust. Continued FroM page 16 oF soCial TV, TweeTs anD TRaVel ViDeos
