"We've seen a lot of interest in curling," said Prisbe. "We have four curling lanes to accommodate the club and the league itself seems to be doing great. We're happy to have them." Sioux Falls Curling started in 2010 and became an official league in 2013. Last year the club had 22 teams. Limited space forced them to turn some teams away. With an instructional league being offered this spring, Prisbe anticipates the number of teams to easily increase. "They've already been booking a lot of corporate events for learn-to-curl," said Prisbe. "Earlier this year, they had more than 100 people learning, so I think it's something new and exciting brought to our community and to the rink." Tourney Time Prisbe is a hockey dad himself. A father of two sons who came up through Sioux Falls Youth Hockey Association, he is most excited of the tournament potential SCHEELS IcePlex brings. "People didn't want to come to Sioux Falls for a hockey tournament," said Prisbe. "The new facility provides a much more desirable venue to host tournaments, some- thing Sioux Falls wasn't able to accommo- date well before." Prisbe hopes to turn Sioux Falls and SCHEELS IcePlex into a premier desti- nation for hockey tournaments. Having been through it with his own family, he understands the importance of a great tour- nament experience. He knows SCHEELS IcePlex will provide that. "Traveling and staying in hotels, that's what the kids remember," Prisbe said. "They don't remember the score of the game or who they beat or lost to, it's about going to the rink and having that tourna- ment experience. We're going to finally have that here in Sioux Falls."
