As a testament of how tough this year's course was, although the race miles were close to last year's race, the time to finish the 2016 course was six hours longer! The SCORE San Felipe 250 provided a huge attending fan base that once again stimulated the economy of San Felipe. SCORE was extremely happy to hear that this year's race was the largest attended race in many years with over 45,000 visitors descending on this awesome seaside town; as reported by the San Felipe Tourism Bureau. Additional highlights included 100 percent hotel, rentals and motorhome park occupancy, which is a rare accomplishment for this race throughout its 30 year history! A clear indicator of the heritage and connection SCORE fans have with this wonderful city. As always, amazing efforts from SCORE teams made it clear there was going to be a battle in all classes. The biggest news of the race were the numerous race leader changes and the new overall winner, Billy Wilson, from Corpus Christy, TX, who fought all day long and held the #15 Trophy Truck together to take the win! Learn more about Billy's story in this issue's SCORE San Felipe 250 coverage. This Issue Safety remains a primary topic for the SCORE Series and in this issue we take a look at the latest head and neck safety gear being offered in the market. The Helmet and Neck Restraint products available today are generations ahead of only a few years ago. See why you should be using this equipment and what it will provide in protecting injury in these critical areas. We are always interested in the truck manufacturer's efforts with their off-road product development and in this issue we are featuring the new 2016 Toyota Tacoma TRD Pro, along with a sneak-peek at the new 2017 model which will be even more impressive to SCORE and off-road enthusiasts. We would also like to recognize the passing of Frank Currie, the founder of Currie Enterprises. Although Currie Enterprises is known in many areas of the automotive performance market with outstanding drivetrain components they are known to us as off-roaders of which Frank was one of those early Baja competitors that instilled the off-road motorsports and lifestyle bug into his sons, Ray, John and Charley and grandson, noted off-road racer, Casey Currie. Enjoy the issue, Jim PUBLISHER'S NOTE
