Participants will learn the skills necessary to create a quality sheet of ice, from a bare refrigerated floor to a completed skating surface. This course combines in-class and on-ice instruction of proper ice making and painting techniques. The class will paint the ice white with spraying equipment, measure and paint hockey markings, paint stenciled logos and install reusable logos. This course also covers building conditions and the relationship to ice quality. Participants will complete a written exam on the final day of the course. Presentations on energy management and new technologies, facility cleaning, and preventative maintenance, help round out this course. SIRO introduces operators to the ice resurfacer while enhancing the manufacturer's materials that arrived with the original purchase of the ice resurfacer.
