This three-day course equips administrative and managerial staff with the tools to lead and manage staff efficiently and in federal compliance. Employee documentation, child labor laws, conducting interviews, and employee handbooks are just some of the many topics covered. Participants are provided with resources to develop and refine their own leadership traits as well as explore methods in reducing employee turnover, directing staff meetings, and coaching their staff in providing outstanding customer service. This course combines in-class and on-ice instruction of proper ice making and painting techniques. The class will paint the ice white with spraying equipment, measure and paint hockey markings, paint stenciled logos and install reusable logos. This course also covers building conditions and the relationship to ice quality. Participants will complete a written exam on the final day of the course. SIRO introduces operators to the ice resurfacer while enhancing the manufacturer's materials that arrived with the original purchase of the ice resurfacer. Safety is the main topic in the SIRO program and should be the top priority when educating staff for the ice resurfacer operation.
