The hotel, which occupies the top 11 floors of Marunouchi Trust Tower, offers striking views of the city. Located in central Tokyo, close to shopping areas, and Tokyo Station, its accessibility makes it convenient for guests. General manager of Shangri-La Tokyo, Jens Moesker, said: "We would never take this for granted though we strive to exceed to our guest expectations. However, this was really great news." Named the Best Hotel in Asia at its recent 10th annual awards is the Taj Lake Palace, Udaipur, India. In total, 3,943 properties in 30 countries worldwide have been recognized. What makes TripAdvisor Traveler's Choice different is that the winners are based on reviews and opinions given online by travellers from around the world. Its categories expanded from "Top 10 to Top 25", and properties from 16 countries in Asia have been awarded. "The winners are based on the more than 60 million reviews and opinions from travellers on TripAdvisor, including traveller ratings for specific categories. Reviews and opinions were analysed using an algorithm similar to that used by TripAdvisor's Popularity Index taking into account the property's quality overall and for a particular category, according to traveller reviews and opinions, as well as the quantity and recency of content written on TripAdvisor," a company statement said.
